The halls at Riverside Academy were a little less full on Friday but not because of a red, white and blue flu or any kind of skip day. It’s because our softball and baseball teams are on the road for the playoffs.

The Riverside Lady Rebels left Thursday afternoon and headed west on I-10 for Sulphur where they will compete in the LHSAA State Softball Tournament. The team is scheduled to take on Calvary Baptist Friday at 11 a.m. — weather permitting. A large weather system was moving in from Texas as of Friday morning.

The Riverside baseball team left Friday morning headed north on I-55 to Monroe where the team is scheduled to play a best two-out-of-three series against No. 1 seed Ouachita Christian. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. Game two is scheduled for noon on Saturday.
