The Riverside Academy volleyball team captured the Distrit 8-V championship Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep of Ecole Classique in Metairie.

The Lady Rebels, who did not even start their season until mid-September because of Hurricane Ida, defeated all three other teams in the district — St. Martin’s, Crescent City and Ecole Classique — to finish in the top spot.

The Lady Rebels will travel to St. Charles Catholic today (Oct. 20) for a match, then return home Thursday to play Destrehan in the annual Pink Game to support breast cancer awareness. Everyone is asked to wear pink and come out to support the team. Some teachers will give extra credit.

The team will travel to West St. John on Oct. 26 before closing out the season at home against St. Charles on Oct. 27.
