Rebel swimmers headed to State Swim Meet

Before they take a break for Thanksgiving, several Riverside Academy swimmers will take one last dive into the pool.

The Rebels will be competing in the State Swim Meet to be held Nov. 17-18 at the SPAR Aquatic Center in Sulphur. The preliminaries will begin Wednesday at 4 p.m.; the finals begin Thursday at 3 p.m.

The Riverside swim team produced five state qualifiers:

Corrin Cashio — the 100 meter backstroke

Kallie Bourgeois — the 100 and 200 freestyle

Makayah LaRose — the 50 freestyle, the 100 freestyle, the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and  100 breast stroke

Camryn Loving — the 50 freestyle, the 100 freestyle, the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 breast stroke

Dakota Jarreau — the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 intermediate medley

Along with the five qualifiers, Courtney Bordelon, Anna Mistretta, Chloe St. Pierre, Lea St. Pierre, Amber Palermo, Kylee Silvestri, Jackson Kelly, Skylar Edwards and Hunter Champagne will be swimming in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.
