The Riverside volleyball team celebrates after defeating Ascension Catholic on Thursday to clinch a share of the district championship.

Staff Report

The Riverside Academy volleyball team faced three teams this week — all nicknamed the Bulldogs. And the Rebels defeated all three, including a long-awaited win over the Lutcher Bulldogs on Wednesday.

But Thursday’s win over the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs was even bigger, as it gave the Lady Rebels a share of the District 6-V Championship. Riverside now has won five straight games.

On Tuesday, Riverside defeated the White Castle Bulldogs 25-14, 25-15, 25-11.

On Wednesday the team defeated Lutcher for the first time since 2017. The Lady Rebels dropped the first game 25-6 before rallying to take the next three games and win the set, 15-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22.

Camryn Loving led the charge with 18 kills and 22 digs in the match. Myracle Revon finished with 13 kills and 14 digs. Chloe St. Pierre had 31 assists and 18 digs. Revon added four aces.

On Thursday Riverside traveled to Ascension Catholic with vengeance on their minds. The Bulldogs won the first meeting on Sept. 27, 3-1. This time, however, the Rebels took straight sets, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.

Riverside will face West St. John on Tuesday, then will host St. Charles Catholic on Wednesday in the annual Pink Game for breast cancer awareness.
