Locking Keys in Car May Be Funny, But It’s No Fun

My day was starting off pretty great. I got up, got dressed and left home early to get to school on time. I was booming Justin Bieber’s Christmas album and I was backing up to my parking spot. I  wanted to make sure that I wasn’t in somebody else’s spot, so I got out of the car to check and all of the sudden the door closed. And locked.

Keep in mind that the car was still running and the Justin Bieber album was still playing.

I was stressed out. I didn’t know what to do or how to get it open. I checked all of the doors and even the trunk, but the door still didn’t want to open.

I didn’t know what to do! I went inside the school, stomping with anger to the front door, and Mrs. Tara Loving was there asking me, ”What’s wrong, Alainah?” I explained to her that I locked myself out of my car with the car still on. Coach Marty and Coach Laborde started laughing at me, while I’m stressing out because I have pitching lessons in the afternoon and the more more it ran, the less gas I would have.

I called my dad because he had the other set of keys on him. He said that he was going to figure a way out to get to me. So I went back inside because I didn’t want to be late for class, but I couldn’t go to class because I had on Crocs, and they are against the school dress code.

So I went back outside to the car, and random people that I barely  knew came to me and asked about my car. I’m confused as to who told them about it because I didn’t tell anybody, but little did I know the whole school found out within five minutes. I felt like the laughing stock of Riverside Academy. I didn’t know if I should cry or laugh at this point. I was stressing out so much I could have pulled my hair out.

So now it’s 7:45 and I go to Coach Laborde’s office to ask if I can go to class because there is literally nothing I could do at this point. I think he felt bad for me because of the whole situation, so he let me go even though I was wearing Crocs. I went to class and everybody just started laughing at me and I just started laughing too knowing that this situation is just what I thought only happened in the movies.

I was only sitting in class for about seven minutes before the front office called me to the front. I was surprised because I thought I was in trouble. But it was just my dad, in the front office, with the extra set of keys. I was so happy that he came.

While it wasn’t a great start, the rest of the day was great. Next time I’ll remember to put my keys in my pocket and never let them out of my sight.
