Riverside Academy students Slade Cambre, Cruz Cambre, and Wynn Cupit went to the Shreveport State Fair  last month, but they weren’t there for the funnel cakes. The three St. James Parish residents competed in the annual livestock show.

For fourth grader Slade Cambre, it was his first time competing  in the Championship Drive along with his calf, Freddy. Freddy won first in his class.

Eighth grader Cruz Cambre placed second in class and fourth overall in the show of Louisiana bred steers. Cruz was also chosen to represent Louisiana in the Northern American International Expo in Kentucky.

Eighth grader Wynn Cupit finished fourth in class and third in show. Wynn competed again last weekend at another show in Brookhaven, Mississippi, finishing first with his heifer, Buttercup, and second with Ruby.
