Rebel athletes and band members received letter jackets

Temperatures may have been in the upper 70s on Wednesday, Dec. 7, but that didn’t stop Riverside Academy’s newest lettermen from wearing their brand new letter jackets.

Members of the band, cheerleaders, soccer players, swimmers, football players, one golfer and one former

powerlifter received their letter jackets during a morning ceremony in the school cafeteria. Traditionally, athletes receive red jackets with blue letters. The band, cheerleaders, dance team, and color guard received blue jackets with red letters.

Band members receiving jackets from Mr. Darryl Clement were: Alexis Bearden, William Carpenter, Darryla Fleming, Nathaniel Jilles III, Tyler Marchetta, Hannah McInnis, Madison Olezene, Martha Perez, Sadie Scholle, Ashton Schumacher and Rolando Villarreal.

Cheerleaders receiving jacket from Mrs. Shannon Millet were Tiera Brumfield, Kye Bourgeois, Makenzie Coburn, Carrington Fernandez and Maria Fernandez.

Soccer players who received their jacket from Coach Christy Duhe were Kaydence Hoover (who also lettered in tennis), Mason Smith, Aubrey Vicknair and Cobey Wahden.

Volleyball players who received their jackets from Coach Brandi Melancon were Lanie Hymel (who also lettered in softball) and Chloe St. Pierre (who also lettered in swimming and softball).

Football players who received their jackets from Coach Lee Roussel were Charles Floyd III, Kennedy Hughes – Trainer, and Rhonda Scott – Trainer.

Basketball players who received their jackets from Athletic Director Marty Luquet were Chance Tyler and Noah Trepagnier (who also lettered in track).

Baseball player Ryan Poche (who also lettered in soccer) received his jacket from Coach Marty Luquet.

Golfer Cole Haase received his letter jacket from Athletic Director Marty Luquet.

Softball players Kylie Bordelon and Makenzie Granier received their jackets from Coach Tamra Regalo.

Power lifter Alyssa Haase, who graduated earlier this year, was awarded a letter jacket as well. It was accepted by her mother, Principal Holly Haase.
