RA Soccer splits over the holidays

RA Soccer competes throughout the Christmas break.

Over the holidays, Riverside Academy’s soccer teams played a full slate of games and tournaments.

The girls team played played in the Mandeville tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 28, beating Salmen High School 7-1 and tied with Hammond High School 1-1. The tea, played in its first away district game of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 3 ,beating St. Martin’s Episcopal 7-0. The team then beat Riverdale 7-2 on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Mickey Roussel Field.

The boys team tied with Liberty Academy on Monday, Dec. 19 with a score of 1-1. The boys team then played in the Archbishop Hannan tournament , losing to Archbishop Hannan 6-0 on Wednesday, Dec. 28 and to Pope John Paul II 9-0 on Thursday, Dec. 29. The team played in its first away district game of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 3 losing to St. Martin’s Episcopal 8-0. The team lost to Riverdale 6-0 on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Mickey Roussel Field.

Both teams will compete against Houma Christian on Friday, Jan. 6 in their second district game of the season. The girls will play at 5 p.m. and the boys will play at 6 p.m.
