Rebel football players make their marks on Signing Day

Riverside Academy senior football players Scott White and Cade Middleton marked National Signing Day on Feb. 1 by signing National Letters of Intent in a ceremony held in the Rebel Den.

White, a 6-1, 235 pound tight end, chose to go to Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. White had 17 catches for 401 yards in 2022, making him the leading receiver in his senior season with the Rebels. White was also an asset on the defensive side of the ball, recording 38 tackles, 13 for a loss, four sacks, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown. White is also an athlete in track. He won the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools state championship in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 2-1/2 inches his junior year at Oak Forest Academy. He is competing for the Rebels track team this spring.

Middleton, a 5-10, 165 pound defensive back, signed with Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Middleton had 38 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 2 pass break ups and two interceptions in 2022. He also played wide receiver and returned kicks.
