There’s more to life than just the classroom. That certainly is the case for Riverside Academy math teacher Angelle DeLaneuville, who has taught at the school for three and a half years.  But outside the classroom, DeLaneuville is a a rock star. She becomes the music master of D.J. Schoolhouse Rocks, spinning tunes and putting on a show at various events throughout the area.

In her custom SUV, DeLaneuville has all the props she needs for a rock and roll show. Besides her heavy duty amps and computer playlist, she has wigs, tambourines, drums, a cowbell and other musical instruments. She also has a slew of interactive audience games to get her crowds going. She has rocked Riverside’s Spring Fest, the mother/son and father/daughter elementary dances, homecoming, Prom, the Carnival Ball after-party, as well as events during the school day such as field day ( both middle and high school) and the eighth grade picnic.

And she loves every minute of it.

“It’s fun to help people have fun,” DeLaneuville said. “Especially people who may be a little shy or introverted. I help them let out their inner rock star and I get to pretend I’m a rock star AND get paid to do it.”

While her alter ego may be a rock star, DeLaneuville said she still loves teaching. She was Riverside’s Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2021-2022.

“I love that Riverside is a family… and as a teacher I get to see the kids grow and mature not only in my classes but throughout their times at school from elementary school through graduation,” she said.
