Rebels take regionals, qualify for State Track Meet

The Riverside Rebels track team competed the Class 1A, Region 3 track meet on Monday, April 25, and had seven athletes qualify for next week’s LHSAA State Meet, which will be held May 4-6 at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge.

The 4×200 relay team of Cade Middleton, Cleveland Johnson, Hunter Champagne and Elijah Davis finished third with a time of 1:32.76.

Bayli Melancon placed third in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 6 inches. Scott White placed first in the shot put with a throw of of 54 feet, 7 inches. He also won the discus with a throw of 129-7.

Seventh grader Bayli Melancon qualified for State in the girls high jump.

Noah Trepagnier placed third in the shot put with a throw of 44-6 to qualify for State.
