Over the summer, seniors of Riverside Academy revamped the parking lot with fresh new designs.
Riverside is the only school in the River Parishes that allows their seniors to carry on the semi-new tradition of allowing students to personalize their designated parking spots. The tradition began in 2020.
Over the summer, seniors were allowed to pick out their spots and create a design. Once their designs were approved, students were given the thumbs-up to spend their hot summer days painting. Some are straightforward. Some are complex. There is a cityscape, a stained glass window, and lots of shapes, colors, and names. All reflect the personalities of the senior class.
Some students brought along family and friends to help them, others worked alone. Some brought tents to try to beat the heat.
Parking spots were supposed to be done by Aug. 3, but because of the heat and other difficulties, the seniors were given until Aug. 9 to complete them.
