Kayla Lucas, 22, of Baton Rouge, has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and aggravated criminal damage to property after a shooting incident in Prairieville on May 6. The shooting occurred in a restaurant parking lot on Perkins Road, where a male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his arm.
The Shooting Incident
Around 10:00 p.m. on May 6, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a restaurant in Prairieville, Louisiana. Upon arrival, they found a male victim who had been shot multiple times in his arm.
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit (VCU), the victim had been involved in an altercation before attempting to leave the property when Lucas fired several shots at his vehicle.
Investigation and Arrest
After the shooting, VCU detectives, with the assistance of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search at Lucas’ residence. The investigation led to Lucas’ arrest, and she was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail before being transferred to the Ascension Parish Jail last week.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and charges against Lucas remain in effect as the case unfolds.
