A jury in Louisiana has found a man guilty after prosecutors said he opened fire on sheriff’s deputies during a dangerous standoff while officers attempted to arrest him on existing felony warrants. The case gained major attention after authorities revealed deputies spent hours trying to peacefully resolve the situation before shots were fired from inside the home.
Louisiana Man Found Guilty After Deputies Came Under Fire
According to the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Faron Dillon was convicted after a three-day trial in Livingston Parish. Prosecutors said the incident happened on January 3, 2025, when deputies from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived at Dillon’s residence to serve an arrest warrant connected to separate criminal allegations from Lafayette Parish.
Authorities stated that Dillon was wanted on charges involving home invasion and aggravated assault with a firearm. When deputies attempted to take him into custody, the situation reportedly turned into a lengthy standoff.
Deputies Tried To Resolve Situation Peacefully
During the trial, prosecutors explained that deputies spent several hours trying to convince Dillon to leave the home peacefully. Investigators said law enforcement officers made repeated attempts to de-escalate the situation before violence erupted.
According to evidence presented in court, Dillon eventually fired eight rounds at deputies from a bedroom window inside the house. Fortunately, no officers were killed during the exchange.
The incident highlighted the dangers law enforcement officers can face while serving arrest warrants, especially when suspects are armed and refusing to surrender.

Court officials confirmed that Dillon’s sentencing hearing is expected to take place at the end of June 2026. Because of the severity of the convictions, he could face decades in prison under Louisiana law.
