A man from Amite, Louisiana, is facing multiple charges after allegedly committing a home invasion and leading law enforcement on a brief pursuit. Taylor Sharkey, 33, has been charged with home invasion (battery), aggravated flight from an officer, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

The Incident and Pursuit

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported home invasion at a residence on Autumn Drive in Prairieville around 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies spoke with the victim and a witness, who both identified Sharkey as the suspect.

Law enforcement located Sharkey’s vehicle on Highway 42, where a traffic stop was attempted. However, Sharkey initially appeared to cooperate before speeding away, leading deputies on a short pursuit. The chase ended when Sharkey lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch.

Arrest and Medical Attention

Sharkey sustained moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Once he is medically cleared, Sharkey is expected to be booked into jail.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Sharkey now faces several serious charges, including home invasion, aggravated flight, and reckless driving. Authorities continue to investigate the situation as the legal process moves forward.
