According to the probable cause affidavit, tensions escalated around 4:30 p.m. during an argument between Lauzurique-Gonzalez and his ex-wife.
Police said the suspect became jealous and accused his ex-wife of ending their marriage because she was attracted to the victim.
Investigators claim the defendant then left the home while saying in Spanish that he was “going to solve a problem.”
Suspect Allegedly Returned With Gun
A short time later, Lauzurique-Gonzalez allegedly came back into the house carrying a black handgun.
The victim’s wife reportedly told detectives she was preparing food in the kitchen when she saw the suspect walk out of his bedroom holding the weapon.
Police say the defendant pointed the handgun at the victim and shouted, “I’m going to f—ing kill you today.”
Moments later, he allegedly fired one shot, hitting the victim in the right shoulder.
Victim Fought Back During Struggle
According to investigators, the victim collapsed after being shot but later stood up and tried to take the gun away from the suspect.
During the struggle, police say Lauzurique-Gonzalez struck the victim on the head with the firearm.
Both women in the home reportedly tried to restrain the defendant while the fight continued.
Eventually, the victim managed to wrestle the gun away and tossed it toward the front door to keep it away from the suspect before escaping the area.
Police Arrested Suspect Nearby
Officers later recovered the handgun near the apartment entrance.
Police located Lauzurique-Gonzalez a few blocks away from the scene and arrested him without further incident.
Investigators said the victim and both witnesses later identified the suspect through photo lineups.
Suspect Held Without Bond
Authorities confirmed that Lauzurique-Gonzalez agreed to speak with detectives after waiving his constitutional rights, though details of that interview were not released publicly.
He is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
The case highlights how domestic tensions and jealousy can quickly escalate into serious violence. Police continue investigating the incident while the victim recovers from the gunshot wound.
