A Church Point man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Acadia Parish after he was thrown from his pickup truck during a rollover accident, according to Louisiana State Police.
Fatal Crash Reported Near Church Point
Troopers identified the victim as 45-year-old Jesus Lopez of Church Point.
The deadly crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, along LA 95 near Lourdes Road, just outside the town of Church Point in Acadia Parish.

Truck Left Highway and Flipped
According to the preliminary investigation, Lopez was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado south on LA 95 when the truck suddenly veered off the roadway while entering a curve.
State Police said the pickup entered a ditch and overturned.
Driver Ejected From Vehicle
Investigators reported that Lopez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
During the rollover, he was thrown from the truck and suffered fatal injuries.
Troopers confirmed Lopez died at the scene.
Investigation Continues
Authorities stated that impairment has not yet been determined as a factor in the crash.
Police said a routine blood sample was collected and will be sent for laboratory analysis as part of the investigation.
