A Missouri man has been arrested for threatening school staff and blaming them for his wife’s suicide, prosecutors said. Alex Reichert, 36, allegedly parked his late wife’s car at St. Charles High School and district offices at least 15 times while making threats online.
Man Accused of Threatening School Staff
Reichert targeted a female employee at the high school who was described in court documents as his “paramour” and said to have been involved with both him and his wife. Prosecutors allege Reichert blamed the staffer and St. Charles High School for his wife Skye’s suicide in March.
Police and prosecutors say Reichert repeatedly stalked the school, its staff, and students who were preparing to graduate, posting threats online. He faces charges of making a terrorist threat and stalking.
Threats and Dangerous Behaviour
In a May 14 bond request, prosecutors wrote, “The suspect has lost his job, his wife and his paramour. His behavior and social media posts indicate he has nothing left to lose and will take his anger and frustration out on innocent civilians.”
Authorities also allege that Reichert owns guns and implied he might use them during the upcoming graduation ceremony. Police say he continues to harass the staffer despite an order of protection.
Reichert Seen Circling School
Students and police told local NBC affiliate KSDK that Reichert drove his wife’s car around the campus and parked it outside both the school and district offices. A bumper sticker on the vehicle read, “I’m unpredictable,” according to St. Charles Police Lt. Daniel Gibbons.
Students described feeling unsafe. “It’s been very scary,” said one senior. “It makes students uncomfortable.”
Countdowns and Social Media Threats
Authorities noted that Reichert posted multiple social media “countdowns” that ended on the day of the school’s graduation. A criminal complaint says these posts implied the use of guns and a fight, creating an “incident or condition involving danger to life.”
One of Reichert’s posts referenced his wife’s death and criticized teachers for not supporting her:
“For the teachers she worked with that immediately erased her and all the work she did: you can continue to teach, but students will always be reminded of your role as people who treat others this way…”
Background and Defamation Lawsuit
Court records show that Reichert and his wife had filed a defamation lawsuit against an anonymous staffer in March, before Skye’s death. The staffer allegedly sent emails to Reichert’s employer accusing him of providing alcohol to children and inappropriate behaviour.
It has not been confirmed whether the staffer from the lawsuit is the same person Reichert threatened. Gibbons noted the threatened staffer “was involved with Alex and his wife.”
Arrest and Court Appearance
Alex Reichert was held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court next week. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of staff and students at the school.
