A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80 in Richland Parish, Louisiana, claimed the life of 28-year-old Courtney Temple on May 14, 2026. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
Details of the Crash
The crash occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 80 and Weems Road. Temple, of Winnsboro, Louisiana, was a front-seat passenger in a 2007 Ford F-150. The driver of the Ford was attempting to make a left turn onto U.S. Highway 80 while presented with a green traffic signal.
At the same time, 38-year-old Allen Stewart, driving a 2013 GMC Sierra east on Highway 80, allegedly ran a red traffic signal and struck the right side of the Ford. Temple, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was also restrained and suffered life-threatening injuries, transported to a hospital for treatment. Stewart sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital.
Arrest and Charges
Investigators determined that Stewart was impaired at the time of the crash. Upon his release from the hospital, he was arrested and booked into the Richland Detention Center. He faces multiple charges, including:
- Vehicular homicide
- First-degree vehicular negligent injuring
- Resisting an officer
- Traffic-control violations
- Operating a vehicle while license suspended
- Failure to display vehicle license
Routine toxicology samples were collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
