A Texas woman has been arrested after authorities say she shot her live-in boyfriend during a heated argument at their home in Cherokee County. Investigators claim the woman fired multiple shots, including one directly between the victim’s eyes, during a confrontation that quickly turned violent.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Alanna Dawn Bilbo, is now facing serious felony charges connected to the shooting. Despite suffering critical injuries, the victim survived and was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Argument Turned Violent at Texas Home
According to law enforcement officials, the shooting happened Monday evening at a residence on County Road 2813 in Alto, Texas. Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting around 7 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with Bilbo after reading her legal rights. Investigators said she admitted that she and her boyfriend had been involved in a verbal argument about their relationship shortly before the shooting happened.
Authorities said the argument escalated while the victim was standing outside near the stairs of the home and Bilbo was positioned in the doorway.
Police Say Victim Was Shot Multiple Times
According to charging documents, investigators allege the victim shouted for Bilbo to shoot him during the argument. Police say she then fired a .22 caliber revolver, striking him directly between the eyes.
Authorities claim that after the first shot, the man turned while holding his face, and Bilbo allegedly fired again, hitting him in the back of the neck.
The victim survived the attack and was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, Texas, for treatment. Officials later confirmed that he was listed in stable condition following the shooting.
Sheriff Says Incident Was Initially Reported as Accident
Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson later shared additional details about the investigation. According to the sheriff, the shooting was first reported to authorities as an accidental incident before detectives learned more information at the scene.
Investigators also said both Bilbo and the victim were allegedly using drugs at the time of the argument and shooting.
Authorities have not publicly released additional details about the victim’s current medical condition.
Woman Faces Serious Charges
Alanna Dawn Bilbo has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury involving a dating or domestic relationship.
She is currently being held in the Cherokee County Jail with bond set at $150,000.
Court records also show that a judge issued a temporary protective order prohibiting Bilbo from contacting the victim for the next three months. The order also bans her from possessing firearms during that time.
