New Orleans is launching a new emergency alert system called “Bryan’s Call” to quickly inform residents when children or vulnerable people go missing.

City officials announced that the system will officially start on Monday and will operate through the city’s existing NOLA Ready alert network.
The program is named in honor of Bryan, a young boy whose disappearance ended tragically when his body was found two weeks after he went missing. His case highlighted the need for faster and more effective emergency communication.

Residents signed up with NOLA Ready will receive alerts directly on their phones and devices when urgent missing person cases arise. The system is designed to get critical information to the public during the crucial early hours of a disappearance.
Officials are encouraging everyone to register with NOLA Ready so they can receive alerts once Bryan’s Call becomes active.
