According to the New Orleans Police Department, First District officers responded to a call shortly before 10:50 p.m. on May 23 at the 3200 block of Banks Street. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators say the shooting occurred after a verbal altercation between two individuals escalated into a physical fight. During the confrontation, both the victim and the suspect fell off a porch, at which point the gun discharged and struck the victim in the shoulder.
