A mass shooting outside a Louisiana nightclub left seven people wounded late Sunday night, sending crowds running in panic as gunfire erupted near a busy gathering area, according to police.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of East 10th Street and Narrow Street in Thibodaux, authorities said.
Investigators with the Thibodaux Police Department are continuing to investigate the violent incident as detectives work to identify suspects and determine what led to the shooting.
Seven People Shot Outside Nightclub
Police confirmed that seven individuals suffered gunshot-related injuries during the incident outside the nightclub.
Authorities have not yet publicly released the names, ages, or genders of the victims.
According to Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening at this time.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after reports of gunfire erupted in the crowded area.
Panic Broke Out as Crowd Fled
In addition to the shooting victims, police said several other people were injured while trying to escape the chaotic scene.
Witnesses reportedly ran in multiple directions as gunfire rang out near the nightclub area.
Authorities have not yet confirmed how many shots were fired or whether multiple shooters may have been involved.
Investigators are currently reviewing evidence from the scene and interviewing witnesses who were present during the violence.
