A tragic science experiment accident at an Ohio school has left a 15-year-old girl fighting through a long recovery after suffering severe burns across more than 40% of her body. The heartbreaking incident has deeply affected the local community, which is now coming together to support the teenager and her family during the difficult journey ahead.
According to reports, the accident happened on May 13, 2026, at Greeneview Middle School in Jamestown. The middle school shares a campus with Greeneview High School.
Authorities said the science experiment unexpectedly caused a fire, resulting in serious injuries to student Chloe Walker.
Teen Airlifted to Hospital After School Fire
Following the accident, emergency crews quickly responded to the school and evacuated students and staff from the building.
According to reports, Chloe Walker was airlifted to a hospital for treatment because of the severity of her burn injuries.
School officials confirmed that one student was treated at the scene while another student was transported to the hospital with burn injuries.
Officials have not publicly shared specific details about what caused the science experiment to go wrong.
The family has also requested privacy as Chloe begins what is expected to be a long physical and emotional recovery process.

As news of the accident spread across Jamestown and nearby communities, local residents quickly began organizing support efforts for Chloe and her family.
A GoFundMe page created to help cover medical and recovery-related expenses has already raised more than $73,000.
Businesses throughout Jamestown have also started donation drives and support campaigns.
According to local reports, donation jars and signs supporting Chloe can now be found in several businesses around town.
Local Businesses Offering Help
Small Town Roots Salon and Spa owner Nicole Marshall said she is helping collect both monetary donations and hair donations for Chloe.
Marshall explained that if Chloe eventually needs a wig because of her injuries, donated hair could be used to help create one for her.
The effort has touched many people in the community, with residents finding different ways to contribute and support the family.
Classmates Organize Fundraisers
Students and classmates have also stepped forward to help Chloe during her recovery.
A fundraiser held at Jamestown Café was reportedly organized largely by Chloe’s fellow students.
One of Chloe’s classmates, Kayleigha Burden, said students throughout the community are trying to help however they can.
Friends and supporters say the outpouring of support shows how much Chloe means to those around her.
School Reopened With Additional Support
Greeneview Middle School reopened the following day with additional support resources available for students and staff affected by the traumatic event.
