Australian authorities have charged a woman with murder after the death of her 4-year-old daughter in Queensland. The tragic case has shocked the local community as investigators continue trying to determine exactly what happened inside the family home.
Jessie Renee Phillips, 31, was arrested after emergency services responded to reports of an unresponsive child at a home in Lowood, Queensland, late on May 25, 2026.
The child, identified as Cleo Catterall, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Queensland Police, Phillips was the only adult present in the home at the time of the incident. Investigators are currently examining several possible causes of death, including the possibility that the child drowned.
Police said two other young children were also inside the house during the incident, but neither was injured.
