A woman in Kenner, Louisiana, has been arrested for allegedly running a fraudulent auto title business that reportedly collected over $100,000 in unauthorized fees.
Kenner Woman Arrested in $100K Auto Title Fraud Case
Karen Rosales, 46, owner of Latino Auto Title LLC, faces multiple felony charges in Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes, according to Louisiana State Police.
The investigation started in January after the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) flagged suspicious activity at Rosales’ business. Police later executed a search warrant and found evidence connected to the alleged scheme.
How the Alleged Scheme Worked
Authorities say Rosales had been operating without a valid OMV contract since 2019. She allegedly charged customers inflated fees, used forged or altered documents, and filed false public records to obtain vehicle titles and registrations in Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes.
Investigators estimate that her business collected more than $100,000 through unauthorized services between 2024 and 2026.
Charges and Legal Action
Rosales was arrested Wednesday and booked on multiple felony counts:
- Jefferson Parish: 32 counts of forgery, one count of money laundering involving proceeds of criminal activity, and one count of false personation.
- St. Tammany Parish: 17 counts of filing or maintaining false public records.
State police urge anyone aware of criminal or suspicious activity to report it at la-safe.org or by calling 1-800-434-8007.
This case highlights the importance of verifying businesses that handle official documents and vehicle services, as fraudulent operations can lead to major financial losses for customers.
