An Ohio man received a terrifying surprise last month when his ex-wife allegedly broke into his home in the middle of the night and fired a gun.
Amanda Heller, 31, remains in custody at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. Authorities say she entered her ex-husband’s home on April 26 while he was asleep and allegedly threatened to kill him, firing two rounds inside the residence, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by Law&Crime.
No Injuries Reported
Local CBS affiliate WTOL identified the homeowner as Heller’s ex-husband. The complaint notes that while Heller fired a handgun twice, no one was injured, and no other people were in the home at the time.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Heller was taken into custody on May 21. She was initially charged with felonious assault, but after her case was moved to the Williams County Court of Common Pleas, she was indicted on several serious charges:
- Attempted aggravated murder
- Aggravated burglary
- Domestic violence
- Improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school
Her bond was set at $100,000. If she posts bond, she is prohibited from contacting her ex-husband.
Next Court Date
Heller is scheduled to appear in court on June 22 for her next hearing.
