Brett Phillips, 34, is facing multiple charges, including domestic abuse battery of a pregnant victim, second-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree feticide, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license.

His accomplice, Chris Phillips, 36, has been charged with principal to second-degree kidnapping, principal to attempted first-degree feticide, principal to domestic abuse battery of a pregnant victim, failure to seek assistance, and simple assault. Police have not disclosed whether the two men are related.

Incident Details

According to Jeanerette Police Chief Terrance Moore Sr., officers responded to a call on Tuesday, May 26, just before 6:30 p.m., after residents reported that a woman had been thrown from a moving vehicle on Katherine Street.

Neighbors were already assisting the victim when police arrived. The woman provided information to investigators before being transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. Chief Moore said authorities determined that one of the suspects had been in a dating relationship with the victim, which helped officers identify the men.

Arrest and Booking

Officers, with the assistance of local residents, located and arrested both suspects. They were initially held at the Juandre Gilliam Law Enforcement Center before being transferred to the Iberia Parish Jail.
