A horrific attack in Georgia ended with a life sentence for a man who targeted a woman hired to clean his home. Ezekiel Lamar Jackson, 23, pleaded guilty to kidnapping, aggravated assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of sodomy. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
The Brutal Attack
The attack happened in April 2026 after Jackson posted on Nextdoor seeking a cleaning service. The victim, one of about 15 respondents, went to Jackson’s Canton apartment on April 6 for a walkthrough of the cleaning job.
While standing in the bathroom, Jackson attacked her, stabbing her in the eye and face with a small screwdriver and jamming his fingers down her throat to stop her from screaming. He then choked her until she lost consciousness, causing her to hit her head on the bathroom counter.
Prolonged Assault and Sexual Violence
Over the next five hours, Jackson sexually assaulted the victim. She eventually convinced him to take her to the hospital, where he sat in the waiting room while she received treatment. The victim suffered an orbital fracture and brain bleeds. Police arrested Jackson at the hospital.
In the apartment, police found a bloody towel and the screwdriver used in the attack. Phone records showed that the victim was the only woman to respond to his cleaning service post, indicating he had intentionally targeted her.
Prosecutor Statements and Sentencing
Assistant District Attorney Kelly Chavis said Jackson deliberately targeted a woman working alone and called him “dangerous,” noting the “brutality of his actions is shocking.” Cherokee County District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway described the assault as “torturous and horrific” and stated that life in prison was the only appropriate sentence.
The victim also spoke at sentencing, explaining the lasting physical and emotional impact of the attack on her and her children.
