A tragic shooting in San Diego left a pregnant 17-year-old dead over the weekend, while her newborn remains in critical condition. Authorities say her boyfriend allegedly carried out the attack during a family vacation.
The Shooting Incident
Police responded around 1 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting. The 17-year-old teen had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors performed an emergency cesarean section to try to save her baby. While the newborn survives in critical condition, the mother did not survive.
Suspect Arrested
The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Trevon Williams, reportedly traveled from Arizona to meet the victim outside the short-term rental in Bay Park where she was staying with her family. After allegedly shooting her, Williams fled into a nearby canyon.
Police located him around 3 a.m. with a semi-automatic handgun and took him into custody without incident. He is now booked into San Diego County Jail and faces murder charges.
