Details of the Crash

Louisiana State Police reported that 20-year-old Jacobi Clement of Gonzales was riding north on LA 73 near Duplessis Road shortly before 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 30. For reasons still under investigation, Clement failed to negotiate a slight left curve, left the roadway, and crashed his motorcycle.

Clement was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the accident and was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Authorities were notified around 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, that he had died from those injuries.

Investigation and Safety Measures

State police indicated that impairment is not suspected in the crash, though routine toxicology tests were conducted and submitted for analysis. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.

Troopers reminded drivers and motorcyclists to follow traffic laws, avoid driving while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, and always wear proper safety equipment.
