A Haughton firefighter was arrested Sunday afternoon following an armed confrontation at a residence in Caddo Parish, authorities reported.
Incident Details
The Caddo Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Jesse Nitz, 20, arrived at a house on the 8800 block of Old Mooringsport Road to pick up his girlfriend around 1:48 p.m. Nitz became involved in a verbal argument with his girlfriend’s father. During the altercation, investigators said he removed a handgun from a holster on his waist and pointed it at the victim.
Struggle and Arrest
The victim attempted to disarm Nitz, resulting in a struggle over the weapon. The victim’s adult son intervened to help subdue Nitz and secure the firearm. Deputies arrived shortly afterward, and Nitz was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm and transported to the Caddo Correctional Center.
