A Lafourche Parish man has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder after deputies say he stabbed a man during a violent altercation at a home in Galliano.
Galliano Man Arrested After Alleged Stabbing Incident
According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old Chad Lachney is accused of attacking a man at a residence on 190th Street in Galliano on Sunday night.
Investigators said Lachney arrived at the home angry and was asked to leave the property. Instead of leaving, deputies allege he challenged the homeowner to a fight, leading to a violent confrontation.
Victim Suffered Serious Injuries
During the altercation, Lachney allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times, striking him in the arm and torso.
After the incident, authorities said Lachney left the scene in a vehicle.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later airlifted to University Medical Center New Orleans for specialised medical care.
Officials have not released an update on the victim’s condition.
Suspect Arrested Following Traffic Stop
Deputies quickly began searching for the suspect and located him on Louisiana Highway 308 in Lockport.
Lachney was pulled over and taken into custody without further incident.
Following his arrest, he was booked into jail on charges of attempted second-degree murder. Authorities also filed an additional drug-related charge against him.
Bail Set at $550,000
Court records show that Lachney’s bail has been set at $550,000.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue gathering evidence and reviewing the circumstances that led to the stabbing.
