A man wanted in connection with a mass shooting investigation in Thibodaux has been taken into custody after a lengthy barricade situation at an apartment complex in Gonzales, Louisiana.
Suspect Arrested Following Barricade Incident
The Thibodaux Police Department announced that 27-year-old Daronti Wesley was apprehended by the Gonzales Police Department after a barricaded subject incident on Tuesday.
According to authorities, officers received information that Wesley was staying at the Magnolia Crossing Apartments in Gonzales and was wanted on several felony warrants related to an ongoing shooting investigation in Thibodaux.
When officers arrived at the apartment complex, Wesley allegedly fled on foot into an apartment and refused commands to surrender, leading to a standoff with law enforcement.
Investigation Linked to Thibodaux Nightclub Shooting
The arrest is connected to a shooting that occurred on May 24, 2026, near the intersection of East 10th Street and Narrow Street in Thibodaux.
Investigators said multiple people were injured when gunfire erupted outside two nightclubs in the area.
The incident sparked a major investigation by the Thibodaux Police Department as detectives worked to identify those responsible for the violence.
Serious Charges Filed Against Suspect
Authorities said Wesley was wanted on several charges related to the shooting investigation.
The charges include attempted first-degree murder, ten counts of aggravated second-degree battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and aggravated criminal damage to property.
Officials said the total bond amount associated with the charges has been set at more than $1 million.
