A Belle Rose man has been arrested after authorities say he intentionally set fire to a home following an argument, leading to a serious arson investigation in Assumption Parish.
Man Arrested Following House Fire in Belle Rose
Deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested 65-year-old Spencer Joseph in connection with a house fire that occurred in Belle Rose on the evening of May 31.
According to investigators, the incident took place at a residence on Frank Road. Authorities were called to the scene after reports of a fire at the home.
Following an investigation, deputies determined that the fire had been intentionally started.
Gasoline Allegedly Used to Start Fire
Investigators said evidence collected at the scene indicated that gasoline had been poured in the doorway of the residence before the fire was ignited.
Authorities believe the fire was deliberately set and was not the result of an accident.
The home was occupied at the time of the incident, leading to a more serious criminal charge under Louisiana law.
Argument Reportedly Led to Incident
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators believe Joseph became involved in an argument with another individual before the fire was started.
