The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Lafayette teenager earlier this year.
Two Suspects Wanted in Teen’s Murder
Authorities have identified 18-year-old Zarious Morrison and 19-year-old Markayla Angelle as suspects in the death of 17-year-old Wykiel Provost.
Both individuals are wanted on charges of second-degree murder, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators are actively searching for the pair and are urging anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward.
Deadly Shooting Occurred in April
The investigation stems from a shooting that took place on April 20, 2026, in the 100 block of Sweetbriar Road in Lafayette Parish.
Authorities said Wykiel Provost was involved in the shooting and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Despite efforts to save him, Provost later died from his injuries.
The Lafayette Parish Coroner’s Office determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
Victim Was an Acadiana High School Student
Provost was a student at Acadiana High School and was also enrolled in programs at the W.D. Mary Baker Smith Career Center.
Following his death, the Lafayette Parish School System released a statement expressing sympathy and support for his family, friends, classmates, and the wider school community.
School officials described the loss as a tragedy that deeply affected students and staff.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are working to locate both suspects.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the events leading up to the incident or the relationship between those involved.
The case remains an active homicide investigation.
