A Long Island murder case has shocked residents after prosecutors accused a man of killing two women in separate attacks over a period of just hours. Authorities allege that the suspect first murdered his neighbour following a dispute over noise and later carried out a second fatal stabbing involving a coworker.

Long Island Man Pleads Not Guilty to Double Murder Charges
Rony Yahir Alvarenga Rivera, 22, appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree and second-degree murder.
Prosecutors allege Rivera was responsible for two separate fatal attacks that occurred between April 30 and May 1 in Nassau County, New York.
Following his arraignment, the court ordered that he be held without bail. He is expected to return to court on July 8 as the criminal proceedings continue.

According to officials, Rivera allegedly attacked Hernandez Castillo inside the apartment building on April 30.
Authorities say the victim suffered approximately 50 stab wounds during the assault.

Suspect Allegedly Confessed to Police
During a press conference, prosecutors stated that Rivera allegedly confessed to law enforcement officers after his arrest.

According to investigators, Rivera allegedly told authorities that he felt disrespected by Cordova and had ongoing issues with her.

According to prosecutors, he went to a convenience store in Lynbrook and called police shortly before 3 a.m.
Investigators claim he informed authorities that he had killed someone that night.
Following the call, officers located and arrested him.
