Marrero Man Hit by Vehicle in Jean Lafitte
According to authorities, the victim was identified as 42-year-old Chad Williams. The Jefferson Parish Coroner confirmed that Williams died from injuries he sustained after being hit by a vehicle.
The crash happened late Sunday night in Jean Lafitte. Deputies from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 10:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian crash.
When officers arrived, they found Williams lying in the westbound lanes of Jean Lafitte Boulevard. He was suffering from serious injuries related to the crash and was immediately taken for medical treatment.
Victim Dies Two Days Later in Hospital
After the accident, Williams was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans. Doctors treated him for critical injuries.
However, despite efforts to save him, Williams died two days later due to the injuries he suffered in the crash.
Officials confirmed that his condition had been critical before his passing.
Driver Remained at the Scene
Authorities said the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators.
The vehicle involved was a Toyota pickup truck. According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the driver was traveling east on Jean Lafitte Boulevard at the time of the crash.
Investigators said the driver was rounding a curve when he suddenly encountered Williams walking in the roadway.

Crash investigators later found the truck facing east in the westbound lane of the road.

According to Sgt. Brandon Veal from the Sheriff’s Office, there were signs that the driver took evasive action in an attempt to prevent the crash.

His mother, Pam Williams, described him as a loving son and father.
She shared that he grew up in Marrero and was the youngest of two brothers. As a child, he was energetic and always active.
According to his family, Williams enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.
Friends and Relatives Share Memories
Family members and relatives remembered Williams as a friendly and outgoing person who enjoyed spending time with others.
His cousin, Kerry Kenney, described him as generous and funny, with a laugh that could easily make others smile.
Relatives said he was always willing to join friends or family gatherings.
Williams also leaves behind a son whom he deeply loved, his family said.
Past Tragedy Brings Mixed Emotions
Williams’ death has also brought mixed emotions for another family connected to a tragic incident from his past.
In 2017, Williams pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of negligent homicide related to a fatal boating accident that killed Samantha Randle.
Authorities said Williams had been intoxicated when the boat he was driving crashed into a barge on Bayou Segnette. The crash resulted in Randle’s death and injured two others.
Following the case, Williams received one year of active probation.
Samantha Randle’s mother, Kathy Randle, said the news of Williams’ passing brought complicated emotions.
She stated that while she does not wish death on anyone, she still carries the pain of losing her daughter.
Family Says Past Accident Haunted Him
Williams’ mother said the boating accident deeply affected him in the years that followed.
