A tragic car crash in Louisiana has claimed the life of a young child and left several others injured. Authorities say the collision happened late Saturday night after one vehicle crossed into the opposite lane while navigating a curve. The incident has deeply affected the local community as investigators continue to examine what caused the crash.
5-Year-Old Boy Killed in Louisiana Crash
A 5-year-old boy from Baker, Louisiana, has died following a serious car accident in Vacherie.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the victim was identified as Demond Tenner.
The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday along Louisiana Highway 3127 near Louisiana Highway 3213 in Vacherie.
Authorities confirmed that Tenner died at the scene after the collision.
Two Vehicles Collided on Highway Curve
Investigators said the crash involved two vehicles:
- A Hyundai Tucson
- A Chevrolet Malibu
Police reported that the Hyundai Tucson crossed the center line while going around a curve on the highway.
The vehicle then collided with the Chevrolet Malibu traveling in the opposite direction.
Following the impact, the Hyundai Tucson caught fire.
Multiple People Injured in the Crash
Officials said the Hyundai Tucson had five people inside at the time of the accident.
All of the occupants were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment after the vehicle caught fire.
The Chevrolet Malibu had four occupants.
Authorities said only the driver of that vehicle was properly wearing a seatbelt.
Serious Injuries Reported
Among those traveling in the Chevrolet Malibu were:
- The driver, who suffered moderate injuries
- A front-seat passenger who suffered serious injuries
- A 4-year-old child in the back seat who also suffered serious injuries
Emergency responders transported the injured victims to hospitals for treatment.
Sadly, Demond Tenner died at the scene of the crash.
Crash Remains Under Investigation
Louisiana State Police said the crash is still under investigation.
Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances that caused the Hyundai Tucson to cross the center line.
