A house fire in Metairie early Tuesday morning caused significant damage to a home but fortunately left all residents safe. Firefighters responded quickly to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further through the structure.
Two-Alarm Fire Breaks Out at Metairie Home
According to officials in Jefferson Parish, firefighters were called to a home in the 4500 block of Transcontinental Drive around 4:02 a.m. Tuesday.
The first fire unit arrived just four minutes after the call was received.
Once firefighters reached the scene and assessed the situation, they quickly requested a second alarm to bring additional crews and equipment to help fight the fire.
Fire Started on Patio and Spread to Attic
A resident inside the home said the fire was first noticed when a smoke alarm woke them up.
According to the resident:
- The fire started on the back patio
- Flames quickly spread into the attic and roof area
- Everyone inside the home evacuated safely
The early warning from the smoke alarm gave residents enough time to get out before the fire intensified.
Large Emergency Response
Fire officials said a large response was required to control the blaze.
In total, emergency crews included:
- 15 fire units
- 43 firefighters
Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
Officials said the fire was brought under control by 4:42 a.m., about 40 minutes after the initial call.
No Injuries Reported
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.
Because the occupants evacuated quickly, no one inside the home was harmed.

Fire investigators are now working to determine exactly what caused the blaze.
