A Michigan couple has been arrested after the death of their 22-month-old son, Vincent Davis, who reportedly died due to abuse and malnutrition. Karloina Davis, 30, and Pierson Davis are facing charges of murder and two counts of first-degree child abuse in connection with the tragic death.

Incident Timeline and Discovery

The investigation into Vincent’s death dates back to August 2024. On the morning of August 12, Karloina Davis called 911, claiming she had found her son face down and not breathing in his crib. However, she allegedly referred to Vincent in the past tense, saying he was “beyond help” when the dispatcher advised her to perform CPR.

When police arrived at their home in Aurelius Township, Michigan, they found Karloina standing in the driveway holding her son’s body. Authorities described Vincent’s skin as “pulled tight over his face and skull” with visible ribs, indicating severe malnutrition. His diaper was full of feces, and he had a large bruise on his groin area, resembling the size of an orange.

Vincent’s Death and Caregiver Neglect

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Vincent was pronounced dead. The cause of death was determined to be caregiver neglect, and the manner of death was classified as homicide. Further investigation into the home revealed a deplorable living environment, with dried blood on the walls, rotten food on the floor, and an overall dirty and cluttered space, deemed unsuitable for children.

Discovery of Additional Abuse

During the search, officers found the couple’s 4-year-old son upstairs, naked and wrapped in a blanket. He appeared very weak, unable to stand, and began crying uncontrollably when his father picked him up.

One of the investigators reportedly found disturbing messages on a computer between “Demon Pierson” and “Golden Fate.” The messages mentioned holding Vincent, trying to clear items from his mouth, and referred to pieces of foam possibly being in his throat.

Arrests and Legal Proceedings

Karloina and Pierson Davis were arrested and appeared in court on March 18, 2026. Karloina’s bond was set at $20 million, while Pierson’s bond was set at $10 million. They are scheduled to return to court on March 31, 2026. It is currently unclear whether the couple has entered pleas or retained legal counsel.

Investigation Ongoing

The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate the case. Further charges may be filed as the investigation unfolds. At this time, no additional comments have been provided by the authorities.
