Jenny Dim, a 9-year-old nonverbal girl, tragically passed away after disappearing from her Kentucky home on March 13, 2026. The community and authorities had worked tirelessly in the search, but sadly, her body was discovered the next day, March 14, in a pond near her home.
Disappearance and Search Efforts
Jenny, who was last seen wearing a mint blue jacket, pink headphones, and no shoes, went missing around 5 p.m. on March 13, near her residence on Macintosh Lane in Florence, Kentucky. Her family immediately contacted the authorities, and the Kentucky State Police issued an IAN Alert—used for children with autism or mental illness—highlighting the potential danger she was in.
Authorities, including the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Boone County Water Rescue, and Hamilton County Search and Rescue, worked relentlessly to find her, focusing on the nearby bodies of water. Sadly, on March 14, the Kentucky State Police confirmed that Jenny’s body had been found in a local pond. The IAN Alert was subsequently canceled, and the police issued a statement sharing their sorrow for the outcome of the search.
“We thank all the first responders, the public, and the media for all their effort during this investigation,” the Kentucky State Police shared in a social media update.
Community Support and Family’s Gratitude
The community in Florence rallied around Jenny’s family, offering condolences and helping with the search efforts. Jenny’s aunt, Julie Par, expressed heartfelt gratitude on Facebook, thanking everyone who supported the family during this tragic time.
“To our community, and to the people from across the state and around the country who stood by us from the very beginning until the end, thank you,” Par wrote in the Boone County Neighborhood Group 2.0. “The number of people who showed up to support us and volunteered to search from dawn until dusk truly amazed us.”
Many people expressed their condolences and support, writing kind words and sharing their thoughts with the grieving family. One community member wrote, “So sorry for your loss, some souls are too perfect for this crazy world and I believe Jenny was one of them.”
GoFundMe Campaign for Jenny’s Family
In an effort to support the family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe campaign was created. The fundraiser has raised over $13,000, which will help with Jenny’s final expenses and the ongoing treatment costs for her autistic brother. While the loss of Jenny cannot be undone, the financial support has provided some relief to her family in the face of this heartbreaking tragedy.
