The Nebraska bowling team faced off against Louisiana Tech on Saturday morning at the Conference USA Bowling Championship in Harahan, Louisiana. Despite a strong effort, the Huskers were defeated by the Bulldogs, finishing in fourth place with a 3-2 record in their first conference tournament.
A Tight Match
The matchup between the fourth-seeded Nebraska Huskers and the fifth-seeded Louisiana Tech Bulldogs was a close one. Louisiana Tech won the opening traditional game by a narrow margin of 1,073-1,010. Nebraska was then down 1-0 and needed a win in the Baker game to force a tiebreaker.
Although the Huskers had the lead at one point, Louisiana Tech secured a dramatic victory, winning the Baker game 992-985, thanks to a clutch spare in the 10th frame. This win allowed Louisiana Tech to avenge a loss to Nebraska from Friday.
Nebraska Looks Ahead to NCAA Tournament
After finishing fourth in the 12-team Conference USA Championship, Nebraska is now shifting its focus to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Bowling Tournament field will be announced on Wednesday, March 25, at 3 p.m. (Central). Nebraska is the only team to have qualified for every NCAA Bowling Championship and holds the most NCAA titles in the country, with five championships to its name.
