An Oklahoma couple has been charged after allegedly using a 14-year-old girl as a surrogate. The couple, Nathan Potier and Erica Palmer, both 36, have been accused of impregnating the teen, now 15, with twins in an alleged surrogate arrangement that has shocked authorities.
Charges Against Potier and Palmer
The Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) had been investigating the case after a Child Protective Services (CPS) referral in December 2025 indicated that the teen was pregnant with twins. Investigators were informed that the father of the twins might be Palmer’s 36-year-old boyfriend, Nathan Potier.
Potier has been charged with sexual abuse of a child, while Palmer faces charges of enabling child abuse and desertion of a child under 15.
Court documents suggest Palmer told authorities that she wanted children with Potier but couldn’t due to a previous procedure. She claimed that her daughter wanted siblings desperately, which she reportedly viewed as the catalyst for the tragic situation.
Search for the Couple and Their Arrest
After learning of the accusations, OCPD authorities sought to obtain a DNA sample from Potier for a paternity test. However, before the test could be administered, Potier and Palmer fled the state.
On March 17, the couple was arrested in Sparks, Nevada, after the United States Marshals Nevada Violent Offender Task Force tracked them down. The couple was captured in a coordinated operation and arrested on outstanding felony warrants. They were booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility in Nevada.
Authorities are preparing to extradite them back to Oklahoma County to face the charges related to their alleged involvement in the case.
Teen’s Pregnancy and Foster Care
The teen, who was reportedly due to give birth in February 2026, is now in foster care. Reports suggest the pregnancy involved twins and that the teen’s condition was discovered after the CPS referral.
Investigators have not yet fully revealed details about the relationship between the victim and the couple or how the alleged surrogacy took place. However, it’s clear that the case has sparked an ongoing legal and ethical debate over the actions of the couple and the well-being of the young girl.
