New Orleans, LA – Benjamin Beale, the New Orleans man accused of dismembering Julia Dardar in the 9th Ward in 2022, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The Incident and Investigation
Benjamin Beale was arrested in January 2022 in connection with the death of Julia Dardar, who had been reported missing by her ex-husband, Micah Dardar, in December 2021. According to a court affidavit, Micah Dardar told the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) that his ex-wife had moved in with Beale shortly before her disappearance.
When the NOPD arrived at Beale’s home to investigate, Beale reportedly stated that he and Dardar were having relationship issues and allowed police to search his property. During the search, officers found a freezer containing remains of a woman, including a head and torso.
They also discovered a reciprocating saw with flesh and fluid on it, along with other items such as a face shield, goggles, and garbage bags beside the freezer. Detectives also noted deep postmortem cuts on the body.
Drug Lab and Other Evidence
Further investigation at Beale’s home uncovered a clandestine meth lab, including dangerous chemicals and equipment like kerosene, acetone, propane, and a Coleman grill. Police also discovered a black safe in Beale’s bedroom closet, which contained the victim’s ID, credit cards, a bifold wallet, a plush turtle purse, and mushrooms.
Because of the hazardous conditions in the home, the Louisiana State Police Narcotics Division was called in to assist in the investigation.
Plea and Sentencing
Beale’s trial was originally scheduled for August 2025, but it was delayed. He was sentenced on February 4, 2026, to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty.
