A serious shooting incident in Washington, D.C., has led to the arrest of two suspects after a federal police officer was attacked while on duty. The case has raised concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers working undercover or in unmarked vehicles.
What Happened in Washington
The incident took place in Washington, D.C. near the border with Maryland.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a United States Park Police officer was shot on Monday evening while driving an unmarked vehicle.
Officials said the officer was working on an investigation when gunmen suddenly opened fire, shooting multiple times at the vehicle.
Condition of the Officer
Despite being shot, the officer managed to drive away from the scene to escape the attack.
He was later taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released his identity, but confirmed that he survived the incident.
Suspects Arrested
Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting:
- Darren Foster, 21
- Asheile Foster, 22
Both have been charged with assault on a federal police officer involving a firearm.

Scott Brecht said the officer was likely targeted while conducting his investigation.
Interim police chief Jeffery Carroll also mentioned that the suspects may have known the victim was a police officer, even though he was in an unmarked vehicle.
