A man has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening his neighbor with a sword, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
On March 25, officers responded to a residence following a report of a disturbance involving a weapon. The caller informed 911 dispatchers that his neighbor had threatened him with a sword before leaving the area in a pickup truck.
Investigation Reveals Escalation of Argument
Upon investigation, police discovered that an argument between the neighbors escalated when 41-year-old Raul Elosegui Fernandez went to his truck, retrieved a three-foot metal sword, and made threatening statements toward the caller. The name of the caller has not been released by authorities.
Sword Found in Fernandez’s Truck
After canvassing the area, police located Fernandez’s truck with the sword visible inside. Authorities took the sword as evidence and proceeded to arrest Fernandez. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
