A tragic incident in the Lutcher area has led to multiple arrests following a shooting that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Damon Joshua Summerlin. The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a Regions Bank parking lot around 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, where two individuals were shot.
The Shooting Incident and Victims
Upon arrival, deputies found two victims who had been shot. Damon Summerlin, 19, and a 17-year-old boy were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Summerlin later succumbed to his injuries.
Arrests Made in Connection with the Shooting
Through an investigation, deputies were able to identify and arrest several suspects in connection with the homicide. The arrested individuals include 17-year-old Juancheus Washington and three 15-year-old boys, all charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Additionally, another 15-year-old faces a charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery related to the incident.
