Two Baton Rouge men were arrested after allegedly breaking into a woman’s home in Springfield, assaulting her, and stealing her safe. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) reported the incident, which occurred on Patterson Road around 11 a.m. on Monday.

The Violent Home Invasion

According to authorities, 65-year-old Alvin Johnson and 67-year-old Rickey Rogers broke into the victim’s home and demanded money. When the woman refused, she was reportedly struck with a weapon and knocked off her wheelchair. The robbers then took her phone, zip-tied her hands, and stole her safe before fleeing the scene.

Suspects Apprehended

Following the robbery, LPSO, in cooperation with the Baton Rouge Police Department, tracked the suspect vehicle to North Foster Drive, where Johnson and Rogers were taken into custody without further incident. Both men now face charges of home invasion and armed robbery.

Victim’s Recovery and Stolen Property Recovered

LPSO officials stated that the victim is “doing okay, considering what happened,” and that her money was recovered. The investigation continues as authorities work to gather additional details related to the case.
