A 24-year-old Ohio mother, Laneasha Walker, has been arrested and charged with three counts of child endangerment after her son was hospitalized with severe burns. Authorities say the burns were so severe that the child required medical attention at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
The Incident
According to police, Walker brought her son, whose age has not been publicly disclosed, to the hospital after the child suffered second-degree burns covering 10% of his body. Hospital staff reported that Walker allegedly could not explain the cause of the burns.
Police Investigation
Documents show that police believe the most recent burn incident occurred on December 12, 2025. Witnesses, including Walker’s other three children, claimed to have seen Walker allegedly pour hot water on their brother. It was reported that Walker attempted to hide the boy’s injuries by using diapers and long socks to cover the burns.
Police also stated that Walker initially refused medical treatment for her son and later lied about taking him to a doctor. At Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, medical staff found evidence of both old and new burns, indicating ongoing abuse.
Arrest and Custody
After her arrest on Friday, Walker’s four children were placed into the custody of family members. Walker was arraigned on Saturday, and her bond was set at $75,000—$25,000 for each count of child endangerment. She remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on April 7.
If Walker posts bond and is released, she has been ordered not to have any contact with her son.
Community Concerns
The case has raised significant concerns about child safety and abuse prevention. As investigations continue, authorities stress the importance of reporting suspected child abuse and neglect to prevent further harm to vulnerable children.
